READING TIME: 3 MINUTES
As a first time mom myself, I remember how emotional and special my first Mother’s Day was. It’s one of those things in life that truly only happen once. I also remember how fast the day came and how easy it is to forget about it. So, if you need some last minute Mother’s Day gift ideas for first time moms, keep on reading!
1. Mom and me photoshoot
Check with local photographers to see if they are having mom and me photoshoot sessions or mini sessions. This is one thing that I wish I would’ve done on my first Mother’s Day. It’s a great way to capture this moment and have something to look back on.
Since it’s so close to Mother’s Day, you can always purchase a session ahead of time and gift it to be used at a later date. Alternatively, if you have a phone (or camera) with a quality lens, you can always DIY it! This can make for a special bonding moment for the whole family.
2. Plan a dinner date for mom and a friend
This is one of the things my husband gifted me with. I had no idea until a few days prior that I would be having dinner with one of my close friends. It was so nice to get out of the house and just have some time to myself for a couple of hours.
Turtle was over a month old at this point so I was thinking about him the entire time (lol) but it was nice to have conversation and good somewhere other than home. If Mother’s Day is too close to the time baby is born, you can always cook at home and prepare some of her favorite foods.
3. Treat her to a spa day
In the first few months of motherhood, all of the attention is on the new baby. Especially as a first time mom. Both you and your significant other are adjusting to your new normal. This can mean that your own needs aren’t always being met.
A spa day is the perfect way to pamper mom. She’ll be able to be taken care of and catered to instead of being the one doing the caring and catering. If this is not possible to do on Mother’s Day, you can always get a gift certificate for her to use at a time that’s most convenient for her.
4. Have a date night at home
As first time parents, it can be hard to get out for date night. This is the perfect opportunity to take some time at home. You can plan for a date night once you’ve put baby down to sleep. Here are some date night ideas to get you started:
- Paint and sip. Go to your local craft store such as Michael’s, or order supplies from Amazon. Add your favorite wine or mocktail and you’re good to go! You can freestyle paint or find a tutorial over on YouTube.
- Watch your favorite movies. Make a comfortable palette on the floor and choose a movie or two to watch. You can also build a popcorn station and grab your favorite snacks.
- Have a game night. This is an easy way to reconnect and have some fun with your significant other.
I hope that you’ve found this list of last minute Mother’s Day gifts for first time moms helpful. While I think these are great for first time mom’s who may not be ready to spend a great deal of time away from their baby, they can also work for any mom.
