Reasons Why I Love Sheet Masks (& Why You Should, Too)

Face Mask Heading

One of my favorite ways to practice self-care is to give myself a spa day at home. I do the whole shebang; bubble bath, mani and pedi, face mask, etc. Often times I even mask while I’m in the bath. My favorite type of masks to use these days are sheet masks and there are so many reasons why I love sheet masks. I’m going to tell you why (and even share some of my favorites) in this blog post.

There’s a sheet mask for every need

No matter if you suffer from oily, dry, or combination skin, there’s a sheet mask for everyone. I personally suffer from combination skin that tends to change with the seasons. Typically in the spring/summer, my skin is more on the oily side while in the fall/winter my skin is more on the drier side.

When I need to tame the oil I like to use a sheet mask that contains oil-absorbing ingredients like charcoal. On the other hand, masks that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid are great for hydration. If you suffer from acne, there are even sheet masks that have been specially formulated to help combat breakouts.

They’re one and done

If you don’t plan to use a face mask often, sheet masks are a great way to go because you can dispose of the mask right after you’re finished. Since sheet masks are single-use products, you don’t have to worry about dipping your hand into a jar or accidentally contaminating your product (this happened to me once and, ew).

This also comes in handy because you can pick up multiple masks to try out without committing to a hefty price tag. This allows you to try out different types and brands, without feeling like you’re wasting money or product.

Sheet Masks are a great way to relax

Whether you want to go full-on spa day or just need a few minutes to yourself, a sheet mask is a perfect way to do so. There are many sheet masks available that only take 5 minutes to work. You can pop it on while brushing your teeth and it’ll be done by the time you’re finished.

On the other hand, there are masks that are to be applied for 20 minutes or more. This is the perfect time to hop in a warm bath, shower, or read a few pages out of your favorite book. Whatever you choose to do, using a sheet mask can be just what you need to make you feel refreshed and relaxed. All while treating your skin to something special.

Serum is included

Sheet masks contain serum or essence that can be absorbed by the skin. I typically include a stand-alone serum in my skincare routine. However, using a sheet mask allows me to skip this step for that day. Another reason why I love sheet masks. They’re a two for one. Masks are meant to be used after toning and before moisturizing, which is when I usually apply my serum. For deeper absorption of the serum, use a face roller while the mask is on your face. Doing this also doubles as a face massage.

Be sure to choose the right mask for your needs. This will help to ensure the serum contains ingredients that will be beneficial for your skin.

*Tip: Pop your sheet mask in the fridge for a few hours or overnight before using. This will give a cooling effect that will surely help you relax even more,
