It’s that time of year where everyone is putting together their holiday shopping lists and guides. This year I want to do things a little differently and share some brands that are tried and tested by yours truly. I’ll be making a new post over the next couple of showcasing some of my favorites. To start, let’s take a look at some of the amazing Black-owned haircare brands that you have to try this season.
Alikay Naturals
Alikay Naturals is one of those brands that I was always interested in trying. At the beginning of this year I was put on to their amazing products. My favorite line from Alikay Naturals is the Lemongrass Style Collection. I used the leave-in, styling mousse, and finishing oil to create a super cute flexi-rod set that had the perfect amount of bounce, hold, and shine. I love to use the edge control when I want to be adventurous and lay my edges and they always stay laid all day long. Aside from how well the products from this line perform, they smell amazing!!
The top two bestselling Alikay Naturals products are their Lemongrass Leave-In Conditioner and Honey and Sage Deep Conditioner.
Bask and Bloom
I remember the first time I used the Bask and Bloom Essentials Rhassoul and Bentonite Shampoo Bar. I instantly fell in love! It was the first time I used a shampoo bar and I didn’t really know what to expect. The shampoo bar was so moisturizing and made detangling a breeze! Another favorite of mine from Bask and Bloom is their More Moisture Cream. I used this cream on its own to do a Bantu knot out and my hair turned out perfect. If you’d like to give a shampoo bar a try, I definitely recommend the one I mentioned. Not only did it make shampooing easy but it also took up less space in my bathroom. That’s a win if you ask me!
The top two bestselling products from Bask and Bloom are the Rhassoul and Bentonite Shampoo bar and Brahmi Root Hair Masque.
CurlMix
CurlMix is an OG staple of mine. This is the first brand I worked with as a content creator back in 2015/16 and I’ve been in love with their products ever since. They started as a DIY subscription box where you were sent ingredients to make your own hair care products but they now offer premade ready-to-use products. Most recently, they have launched their CurlMix Fresh Kits which I absolutely love! They change what is included in the box each month and sometimes include skincare products. I love using their four-step system to create the perfect wash and go.
Their bestsellers are their flaxseed gel and their wash day kits. The kits include everything you need: shampoo, conditioner, a leave-in, and their flaxseed gel.

Gemini Naturals
This brand isn’t so much haircare in the sense of shampoo and conditioner but it is my go-to brand for temporary hair color. Gemini Naturals offers a wide range of vegan temporary hair gels that are perfect for those who have wanted to dabble in coloring their hair but don’t want to deal with the damage it may cause. My favorite products from Gemini Naturals are the Curl Awaken Primer, which is also a leave-in conditioner, and the hair gel in the color cranberry. The primer works like a styler and gives the perfect hold for styles like twist-outs. I did one not too long ago and it came out perfectly!
The bestselling colors from Gemini Naturals are the Get Hued – Bronze Beauty and Get Hued – Purple Rain.
Mane Like Me
Mane Like Me is another OG staple of mine. I’ve worked with this brand quite a bit and continue to work with them because their products always get me right. My favorite is the moisturizing hair pudding because it’s the perfect consistency and smells so yummy! I love using it for chunky twist-outs because it gives my hair great definition, shine, and softness. A plus to her great products, the owner of Mane Like Me, Quecina, is one of the kindest and most thoughtful brand owners I’ve met.
The bestselling products from Mane Like Me are the Revive and Retain “Ultimate” Haircare System and the Refreshing and Moisturizing Shampoo.

Moisture Love
Another Black-owned haircare brand that I’ve started using within the last year is Moisture love. I love using their shampoo because it has a liquid consistency. I like to transfer it to an applicator bottle for easy application to my scalp. My all time favorite product from them is their Kindred Spirits Moisture and Style Cream. It’s like a hybrid between a butter and a cream and is perfect for locking in moisture. I’ve used it for a number of styles but I love to use it for braid-outs.
The Moisture and Style Cream and the Mesmerizing and Definition Bundle are their two bestsellers.

Nature’s Little Secret
I recently discovered Nature’s Little Secret through some of my curl friends. Many of them raved about this brand on Instagram and their results are absolutely amazing. I gave the brand a try for myself and I’m so glad that I did! In short, their products are amazing. I purchased the strengthening kit which came with the cucumber nourishing shampoo, milk strengthening deep conditioner, and banana leave-in conditioner. Recently I did a review on YouTube and all three of the products blew me away. I can’t wait to purchase more for them.
The top two bestsellers at Nature’s Little Secret are the Fenugreek Pre Poo and the Irish Mosh Styling Cream.
Shedavi
Shedavi is unique in that it offers both haircare products and a hair growth supplement. I’ve tried both and have talked about them over on my YouTube channel if you’d like to hear my thoughts. I would have to say that my all-time favorite product is their leave-in conditioner. It has the perfect slip, does a great job at moisturizing my hair, and makes my curls pop! I also really enjoy using their hair and scalp growth elixir. It feels amazing on my scalp when doing scalp massages. I did take their supplements for 60 days but have since stopped. I can say with confidence that their hair growth supplement is the only one that I’ve tried that gave me noticeable growth. However, just a warning that if you are sensitive to biotin, it may not be for you.
The hair and scalp growth elixir and the hair growth starter bundle are the top bestsellers from Shedavi.
