Recently I decided to make the switch from the leading brand feminine hygiene products to The Honey Pot Co. Let me just say that my life has forever changed! The Honey Pot Co. is a Black woman-owned feminine care brand. It was founded by Bea Dixon created with the power of herbs to cleanse, protect and balance your vagina. From the first time that I used the products, I knew from that day forward I would take care of my honey pot with The Honey Pot Co.
I’ve actually used the sensitive foaming wash from this brand off and on for a while. Last month though, I decided to purchase the complete system. I purchased the; daily normal wipes, normal foaming wash, super herbal pads with wings, overnight herbal pads with wings, and the regular tampons. I’ll give you the run-down of each of these, one by one.
Daily Normal Wipes
I love these wipes because sometimes you just need a little extra something. When I’m on my period, I always get self-conscious when changing my pad or tampon. Adding these wipes to my routine has taken the worry out of things. They’re so soothing, formulated without artificial fragrance and cause me no irritation. I love that I can use them to keep myself feeling clean throughout the day. I also love that the scent isn’t overwhelming. I’m sure that’s due to the lack of artificial ingredients.
The key ingredients in these wipes are; coconut oil to help fight bacteria and provide natural moisture, aloe vera to soothe and heal irritated skin, cucumber to moisten and help you feel refreshed, and calendula to fight bad bacteria and prevent infection. They also contain a number of oils and extracts such as rice extract, lavender oil, and vitamin E. I love that they’re packed with product. Depending on your situation (e.g. your flow, etc.) you only need one wipe to get the job done.
The best part is that they’re multipurpose. Find yourself in a pinch and forgot to put on deodorant? You can use the wipes to freshen up your body too! Trust, I’ve been there.
Normal Foaming Wash
For the washes, there are two options, normal and sensitive. The Honey Pot Co. foaming washes are made to get rid of odor-causing bacteria, help hydrate your vulva, and balance your PH. I love this wash because like the wipes, it’s super gentle on my skin. They seriously make me feel cleaner and fresher than any other feminine wash I’ve ever used. Unlike many washes that are packed full of artificial fragrances and ingredients that I have no clue how to pronounce, this wash is 100% natural and made with herbal ingredients.
Five key ingredients in this wash are coconut oil, lavender, grapefruit seed extract, apple cider vinegar, and colloidal silver. The lavender calms inflammation and minimizes discomfort, grapefruit seed extract acts as a gentle preservative, ACV works to balance and maintain a healthy pH, while colloidal silver fights bad bacteria and maintains the good and also kills yeast (yay for no yeast infections!).
The best part about the wash, in my opinion, is that while it contains many helpful ingredients, it is free of many harmful ones. Such as carcinogens (cancer-causing agents), sulfates, parabens, artificial fragrance, and dioxins. As a biomedical scientist/cancer biologist, I truly appreciate the care and dedication that was put into the creation of these products.
Herbal Pads
The herbal pads come in three options; regular, super, and overnight. I decided to go with the super and overnight herbal pads. The main thing that sets these pads apart from the rest is the fact that they’re infused with essential oils. As soon as I opened the package, I could just smell the herbal goodness!
Like the other products, the pads also contain lavender. In addition, they’re made with rose to tone and reduce inflammation and aloe vera to heal and soothe irritated skin. Because let’s be real, all that wiping on our periods can be quite irritating. My favorite part is that they’re made with mint. The mint helps to cool, refresh soreness and help with the pain. Now, I’m not going to lie, the cooling from the mint caught me off guard at first. I didn’t know what was going on. However, it felt so relaxing. Like a little personal spa session for my vagina.
In addition to the pads, there are everyday liners which I plan on ordering soon. You can never go wrong with having liners for the light days. These are also herbal infused.
Tampons
There are two options for the tampons; regular and super. I opted for the regular tampons. They’re made with natural cotton and are hypoallergenic. They’re free from pesticides and harmful chemicals like chlorine, dye, dioxins and synthetic materials. The applicator is easy to insert and made from BPA-free plastic.
I’ve been using the leading brand of tampons since I first started getting my period and honestly, I never really put much thought into it. I didn’t think about how all of the chemicals in them could affect me. Most tampon companies don’t disclose what exactly it is that they use to make their products. To know that I’m only getting the good stuff makes me and my vagina happy. But as they say, when you know better, you do better. So that’s exactly what I’m doing, better!
My flow is generally heavy the first day or two but normalizes by day 3. The best part is that I didn’t experience any leaking with these tampons.
My Overall Thoughts
I’ll forever take care of my honey pot with the Honey Pot Co. because last month’s period was a breeze. I usually experience intense cramping the first two days that make me want to just stay in the bed all day long. I usually end up taking some type of medication, too. However, while using these products from the Honey Pot Co. I experienced little to no cramping. There was a day last cycle where I used a tampon from the brand that I usually buy but as soon as I inserted it, I started feeling sick. I ended up switching to a Honey Pot Co. tampon and I swear to y’all, the sickness subsided.
I feel like the Honey Pot Co. has changed my life. As I become more conscious about what I consume, or in this case, insert into and place on my body, I can say that I’m happy I started using these products. The only regret I have is that I didn’t order these products sooner. Not only have they made my periods easier to get through, I feel empowered knowing that they were created by someone who looks like me.

This is great Sis! You made me want to def try! I was def wondering if you could tell the difference in a regular tampon and the honey pot. I see you could! 💜
Yes sis, it was so interesting. This whole time I just thought I suffered from painful periods but now I’m pretty sure it was the products I was using.
First time hearing about this line but seems like they have everything a woman could need to feel fresh and protected. I wonder if they carry this line by me somewhere.
Try checking the store locator on the website. Your local Target may carry the products.
These products sound Amazing!! I’ve actually never heard of Honey Pot before, but I know the company has been in the media recently and really getting their name out there. I’m excited to try the tampons and compare them to some of the other leading brands that I typically use.
Yeah, it’s sad what happened but all the negativity ended up having a positive outcome. If you get the chance to try them I really hope you end up liking them!
I need the honey pot co to come to Canada! We don’t have options like this from black women here!
I wonder if she ships to Canada? We don’t have Target in Japan and Target doesn’t ship here so I’ve been buying directly from her site.
Great blog post sis!! I’ve been using the sensitive wash from HoneyPot and I love it. I haven’t tried their pads or tampons yet but after reading this I will definitely get them. I need anything that’ll help with the cramps because the struggle has been real lately! Although the situation that happened was ignorant, I’m glad her sales have doubled and more women are supporting this brand who didn’t know much about it. It’s a win for her and this only shows that some people never want to see you succeed.
Yes Maddy, please try the pads. They’re my favorite product from her. Just don’t be alarmed by the tingle from the mint lol. I completely agree with you though. They tried to tear her down but she came out victorious.
