In my post about PHAs in Skincare, I told you all about PHAs benefits in skincare and how they may be helpful for sensitive skin. I also introduced you to the Peter Thomas Roth PRO Strength 10% PHA Exfoliating Clarifying Liquid. For the last month or so, I’ve put this clarifying liquid to use.
Let’s talk about its benefits, how to use it, and show you my results so far. If you’ve had your eye on this product, I encourage you to read on!
First, the benefits
According to PTR, the 10% PHA Exfoliating Clarifying Liquid is to be used daily as a leave-on exfoliant and clarifying treatment. It is formulated with a concentration of 10% glucanolactone polyhydroxy acid, a PHA, to reduce the look of uneven skin texture and skin tone, and combat acne. It also contains 5% glycolic acid (AHA), 5% lactic acid (AHA), 5% lipohydroxy acid (LHA), and 0.5% salicylic acid (BHA) to help boost the effects of the PHA and help remove excess oil. There are also ceramides and a 5% super lipid complex to alleviate any post-treatment dryness.
How should you use the 10% PHA Exfoliating Clarifying Liquid?
This treatment should be used on a daily basis. You can use it both day and night but I recommend that you start out by using it every other night. If you’re afraid of how your skin may react, do a patch test first. That way should you have a reaction, you can take care of it right away.
Once you have built up a tolerance and your skin has become acclimated, you can increase your frequency to every night and then twice a day. I personally only use it every night because I use a Vitamin C serum during the day and I’m not quite sure how the two will react with one other.
It’s been 30 days, here’s how my skin reacted
Whenever I use products like this, I’m kind of skeptical because I’ve used a number of products that claim to help clear acne or even out skin tone and texture but the results feel like they take forever to see. With this clarifying liquid, I was able to see results in just a few days. The first thing that I notice was that my skin felt so much softer. I had a bit of texture on my forehead that seemed like it just wouldn’t go away but I noticed that both my forehead and cheeks felt extremely soft after using this product.
I don’t suffer from acne but I do have to deal with a pesky hormonal breakout every month that takes forever to heal. However, since adding this to my routine, my breakouts go away in just a few short days. No more waiting weeks to get rid of those painful cystic pimples! I also noticed that I’ll only get one pimple instead of the cluster that usually decides to make an appearance.
The other thing that I noticed is that my skin looks so radiant and glowy! I didn’t notice how dull my skin was until after I started using this and put together before and after pictures.
Final thoughts
Overall, I’m loving my results using the Peter Thomas Roth 10% PHA. I’ll definitely keep this exfoliating clarifying liquid in my skincare arsenal because the results I’ve had in the first 30 days has been amazing. Peter Thomas Roth was kind enough to gift me with this and their Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment so I can’t wait to see how the combination of the two work for me.
